Dr. Maya Chen-Watkins
Psy.D., Licensed Psychologist
“I support people in reclaiming the parts of themselves that had to go underground to survive.”
About
My Style
My approach is parts-based and body-informed. I pay attention to what lights up in your nervous system as much as what comes through in words. We go at the pace of trust.
Before Our First Session
Before our first session, you do not need to have your story organised. We will find the thread together.
I Am Best With
I am best with clients carrying layered identities and layered wounds — transracial adoptees, mixed-race individuals, and anyone whose sense of belonging was disrupted early.
Referrals Welcome
I welcome referrals for complex trauma, racial identity exploration, and adoption-related grief.
I Refer Out For
I refer out for active eating disorder treatment and psychological testing.
Outside the Practice
Outside practice, I throw ceramics, tend a pollinator garden, and volunteer with an adoptee mentorship programme.
What Shaped My Practice
Being a transracial adoptee myself means I do not just understand fragmented identity intellectually — I have lived it. That lived knowledge grounds my clinical work in something textbooks cannot teach.
